The Bicycle Casino Hosts
'Legends of Poker' Tournament

BELL GARDENS, CA - The Bicycle Casino hosted one of their largest poker tournaments of the year, Legends of Poker 31 days of the world of poker's finest! With an estimated prize pool of over $2,000,000, including two $150,000 guaranteed events, plus 5 new events slated for this year, this tournament brings together some of the best players from across the country for a month long competition unlike no other!

Harrah's to Buy Louisiana Downs Racetrack - LAS VEGAS - Casino operator Harrah's Entertainment Inc. said on August 30 it signed a letter of intent to buy a 95 percent stake in Louisiana Downs racetrack for $157 million, including installation of slot machines and other renovations.
Las Vegas-based Harrah's said it is negotiating "definitive documentation" for the acquisition of the thoroughbred racetrack in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Under the letter of intent, Harrah's and local investor group Downs Entertainment Group Inc. will form a new company that will own Louisiana Downs and a Harrah's riverboat casino and hotel complex in nearby Shreveport. Initially, Harrah's will own 95 percent of the new company and DEG will own 5 percent.

Once the deal is completed, Harrah's will manage both the racetrack and the hotel-casino, with operations at the expanded complex expected to start next summer

Venetian Explores Internet Gaming - LAS VEGAS - /Las Vegas Sun/ - A company affiliated with Las Vegas' Venetian Hotel Casino has invested in an Internet gaming operation and is exploring opportunities in Indian gambling. Venetian Casino Resort Athens LLC has applied for an Internet gambling license in Alderney in the British Channel Islands. Information disclosed by the company in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing last week noted that the Venetian entered a joint-venture agreement in January. Partners were not identified in the filing. "We have applied for an Internet gaming license in Alderney, but have not yet established any operations," the filing says. The deal would be terminated if Venetian is unable to obtain any of the required regulatory approvals in Alderney, Nevada or any other jurisdiction.The company provided no other information on the Indian gaming possibilities. The Venetian, controlled by businessman Sheldon Adelson, joins MGM MIRAGE and Station Casinos, both of Las Vegas, in exploring overseas Internet gambling opportunities.
