Borgata Big Winner at Sarno Awards

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 15, 2003 -- Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa was recently recognized by three prominent organizations. Borgata was recognized for its design at Global Gaming Business' inaugural Casino Design 2003, for its restaurant product in the November issue of Esquire, and for its development and construction by New York Construction News.

At Casino Design 2003, Borgata received the award for Best Project Over $250 Million. Global Gaming Business magazine created the Casino Design conference to spotlight the art and science of architecture, construction, interior design, landscape architecture, land-use, signage and all other issues surrounding the development of gaming resorts.

Earlier this month, Borgata's Suilan by Susanna Foo restaurant was named one of the Best New Restaurants in America by John Mariani, a noted food critic who listed his top 20 new restaurants in the November issue of Esquire. Also in Esquire, Mayobelle Taylor, one of Borgata's 4,800 associates, received Cocktail Server of the Year honors.

Borgata was named Project of the Year by New York Construction News, an industry publication serving New York, New Jersey and Connecticut's $25.9 billion construction marketplace. As a result, Borgata will be featured in its December 2003 issue.

Bob Boughner, CEO, commented on the recent awards, "We are very honored and very proud of the recognition Borgata has received in the short time since opening and are grateful for the many construction and design professionals that assisted us. We are especially thankful to our 4,800 Borgata associates, who brought Borgata to life."

Borgata is a joint venture development of Boyd Gaming Corporation and MGM MIRAGE. Located at Renaissance Pointe in Atlantic City, it features 2,002 guest rooms and suites, 125,000 square feet of gaming, 11 destination restaurants, 11 retail boutiques, a 50,000-square-foot spa, 70,000 square feet of event space, and parking for 7,100 cars.

Stratosphere's X Scream To Debut on Halloween
ED KOCH , Las Vegas Sun

Like a huge, mechanical dragonfly, a skycrane helicopter made seven trips to the top of the 1,149-foot Stratosphere this morning to carry up the 18 tons of Las Vegas' latest thrill. Under a clear blue and nearly windless sky, some of the many spectators who watched said the airlift was a thrill of its own.
The helicopter was putting pieces in place for the Stratosphere's X Scream ride, which will dangle riders over the edge of the tower. Crowds of people stopped to watch the installation of the ride's main components.

When the largest of the seven pieces -- 69 feet of track weighing more than seven tons -- was safely set atop the Stratosphere, there was applause from the roof of the tower and down on the ground.
Mike Gilmartin, spokesman for the Stratosphere, said there will be a bar next to the X Scream for riders who need "liquid courage."

Many of them may need that kind of fortification, since the ride will dangle them more than 800 feet above the Strip.

Once it is installed at the top of the Stratosphere, the X Scream will be the world's third-highest amusement park attraction, after the Stratosphere's Big Shot and High Roller rides.

The X Scream is scheduled to be assembled over the next two weeks. Its projected opening date is Halloween.
