Iowa
casino wants huge new sign
As reported by The Associated Press
ALTOONA,
Iowa - Prairie
Meadows Racetrack and Casino wants to increase its
visibility - big time.
Officials
at the casino just east of Des Moines want to erect a
$2 million sign that would stand taller than a 10-story
building and be visible from more than one mile away.
The
sign needs permission from Altoona City Council members,
who have put it on their Monday meeting agenda.
"Casino"
would be spelled out in giant, back-lit letters.
"We
just need to let people know where we are," said
Prairie
Meadows spokesman Steve Berry.
