Isle of Capri Casinos recently unveiled plans for the company's first off-shoot brand as well as a new casino vessel for the soon-to-be-acquired Davenport, Iowa, President Casino property. Rhythm City will be the casino's new name, featuring a lively musical theme to be used throughout the decor as well as marketing efforts. The concept is an effort to develop a separate brand identity for the billion- dollar company, which utilizes a tropical, Caribbean theme for its other 12 properties, nationwide. Along with the new name comes a new gaming vessel, The Queen of the Red, a larger and more state-of-the-art riverboat. With over 30,000 square feet of casino space, the boat will feature approximately 1069 slots and 42 tables. |
The riverboat is planned to be in place by this April and the name and theme will be introduced by summer 2001. The closing is subject to approval by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, which is expected to meet on Friday, September 15, and other governmental bodies.
