From the Craps Table to the Picnic Table

Memorial Day Weekend. A solemn day where we pay homage to our fallen soldiers and sailors. It also signifies the start of summer and with it thousands of grill masters begin their annual ritual of scraping and cleaning the backyard barbeque.

As the connoisseurs of charcoal don their white chef's hat and gloves, a small Iowa company has the perfect gift for these barons of the barbeque. All Occasion Aprons, an Iowa City company, has been making custom designed aprons for every occasion, and has introduced an apron for the gaming aficionado. "This full size cooking apron sports the designs of casino games and gaming memorabilia and is perfect for the gambler who enjoys the craps tables as well as the picnic tables," said Irene Shurson, owner of All Occasion Aprons.

Shurson, a lover of arts and crafts, started her company after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and spent five years in and out of hospitals. "My husband and I enjoy going to the riverboat casinos and with my passion for arts and crafts I started doing this and its snowballed into a popular gift idea. We can do what the customer wants. It's pretty nice to be able to customize the aprons to the individual's favorite games," she said.

Business has been brisk for All Occasion Aprons. The aprons retail for only $19.95. "People can only get so many decks of cards or T-Shirts," Shurson said,

"but with an apron, well that can last forever," she grinned.

People can order the aprons by either calling Shurson at 319-338-2259 or via email at AllOccasionAprons@yahoo.com.
