Sam's
Town Tunica Named 'Casino of the Year' by Academy of Country Music
LAS
VEGAS, NV - Sam's
Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Tunica, MS has been named by the
Academy of Country Music (ACM) as the winner of its third annual
"Casino of the Year'' award. The Academy dedicated to promoting
country music around the world to the business community and music
fans, inaugurated this non- performance category to acknowledge
companies that have helped promote the country music industry.
"We couldn't
be more excited to receive this distinction,'' says William S. Boyd,
Chairman and CEO of Boyd Gaming Corporation. "This is the first
time in the history of the ACM's Casino of the Year award that a
casino located outside of Las Vegas has captured this prestigious
honor. Our River Palace Entertainment Center at Sam's
Town Tunica has hosted some of the biggest names in the country
music field -- all to packed houses -- and we plan to continue our
tradition of showcasing top country music talent.''
Nominees for
the ACM "Casino of the Year" award are selected by a panel of blue
ribbon ACM judges. To be eligible, a casino must have bought or
promoted at least 20 country concerts during the calendar year of
the award, be in good standing with all agents, and aggressively
help to promote country music ticket sales.
