Charles Town Races to Get 500 Additional Slot Machines

The West Virginia Lottery Commission unanimously approved Penn National Gaming's request to increase the number of machines authorized for placement at the Company's Charles Town Races by 500 to 2,000.

The Company anticipates that it will have the 500 additional devices -- all to be reel spinning, coin-out machines -- installed at Charles Town Races by mid-fourth quarter 2000. To quickly accommodate the 33% increase in machines and larger crowds, the new gaming machines will be installed in the new gaming area, which along with a 150-seat restaurant and lounge are currently under construction at Charles Town.

"Since our extensive renovation in 1997, Charles Town has emerged as one of the region's premiere entertainment centers, and we are grateful to the Lottery Commission and our local government officials for their supportin allowing

Penn National to implement further expansion enabling us to meet the growing patron demand at the facility," said Peter M. Carlino, chief executive officer of Penn National.

Penn National owns and operates two Mississippi casinos, Casino Magic Hotel Casino Golf Resort in Bay St. Louis, and Boomtown Biloxi Casino in Biloxi, as well as three racetracks and eleven off-track wagering facilities located in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.


Eagle Mountain Casino Opens New Bingo Hall - A new bingo facility located adjacent to the Eagle Mountain Casino, CA, on the Tule River Indian Reservation opened its doors September 28, 2000. Bingo is called each Thursday through Sunday. Doors open at 5:00 pm each evening for the Early Bird session, which starts at 6:15 pm. The main session starts at 7:00 pm. Each session will have potential payouts of up to $6,600, not including progressive jackpots. A new snack bar is located inside the Bingo Hall and will be open during each Bingo session.

Santa Fe Station to Operate Under Station Casinos - The Nevada Gaming Control Board granted approval on September 13 for Station Casinos, Inc. to own and operate Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino .The company is expected to begin operating Santa Fe Station on October 2, 2000. Station Casinos plans to renovate and refurnish the casino floor, all existing restaurants, and other common areas. In addition, approximately 800 new slot machines will be added or exchanged, increasing the property's gaming capacity to approximately 2,100 machines. Station Casinos Inc., a multi-jurisdictional gaming company, owns and operates Palace Station Hotel & Casino, Boulder Station Hotel & Casino, Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel, the Wild Wild West Gambling Hall & Hotel, Sunset Station Hotel & Casino in Nevada, as well as Station Casino Kansas City and Station Casino St. Charles in Missouri.

Isle of Capri Completes Purchase of the Lady Luck Casino in Las Vegas - Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. announced September 12 that it had completed the acquisition of the Lady Luck Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. The property will maintain the Lady Luck name, which was purchased by the company with the acquisition of Lady Luck Gaming Corporation in early March 2000. Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. owns and operates thirteen riverboat, dockside and land-based casinos at twelve locations, including Biloxi, Vicksburg, Tunica, Lula, and Natchez, Mississippi; Bossier City and Lake Charles, Louisiana; Black Hawk, Colorado; Bettendorf and Marquette, Iowa; Kansas City, Missouri; and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Men At Work

 

As everyone seems to be in Australia for the Olympics, some Australians are coming to the United States. One of the 1980's top bands, Men At Work, will appear at Sunset Station Hotel and Casino on October 6, 2000.

Men At Work became famous in Melbourne, Australia, in 1980 with their classic hit Who Can I Be Now. Over the years the band recorded several albums, performed extensive world tours and did many interviews on MTV.
