Harrah's To Lay Off
- NEW ORLEANS, LA - Harrah's
New Orleans Casino on July 17 laid off 150 employees,
or about 5 percent of its work force. Workers were being
told in a series of morning and afternoon meetings.
cuts were made in a variety of areas and a severance package
reportedly was being offered to each worker.
part of its tax cut deal with the state, the casino is
required to maintain 90 percent of its 2734 employees.
officials said that they would comment on the cuts later
in the week.
Carmen Electra to Star
in Las Vegas
- LAS VEGAS, NV - Former "Baywatch'' star and Playboy
model Carmen Electra has signed a two-year deal to star
in her own show on the Las Vegas Strip.
