New Casino Opens in Indiana

Florence, IN -- Belterra Casino Resort opened at its new home here by the Markland Dam Friday, October 27.

"We've waited a long time for this day and we're extremely excited about introducing our extraordinary casino to the public," said John Spina, vice president and general manager.

Located about 45 miles from Cincinnati in southeast Indiana, The Belterra Casino Resort also offers a 15-story hotel with 308 deluxe rooms and suites. The hotel will also have a full service health spa and offer 24-hour room service. The property has six restaurants including; The Belterra Buffet, Fireside Steak House, Ocean Grill, The Seafood Bar, Rockwell's Cafe and The Deli which is located in the casino. The resort also houses an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Tom Fazio (scheduled to open late summer 2001) and a 1500-seat showroom due to open Thanksgiving Weekend to the tunes of country band Alabama.

The 38,000 sq. ft. riverboat casino holds 2700 passengers and 300 crew members. The casino has 1350 of the new slot machines and 57 table games including; Craps, Roulette, Blackjack, Caribbean Stud, Wild Aruba Stud, Caribbean Draw and Mini Baccarat. Belterra Casino Resort will offer free admission to enter the casino.

The Belterra is Indiana's tenth riverboat casino. It was due to open in August but a collision with a barge on the Mississippi River caused a delay.

Belterra Casino Resort is owned by Pinnacle Entertainment Inc., headquartered in Glendale, CA. The Company also owns and operates six other casinos in the US and Argentina, including Casino Magic and Boomtown.

Harrah's Donates $100,000 Scholarship to UNLV Law School - LAS VEGAS, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. announced it has committed $20,000 per year for the next five years in scholarship funds to the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

"This donation is in keeping with Harrah's commitment to the communities where we do business," said Phil Satre, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Harrah's Entertainment. "UNLV is recognized as a leading post-secondary institution, and its success is key to Nevada's future prosperity.

The UNLV financial aid office will award the "Harrah's Entertainment Scholarships" to Nevada residents based on academic merit, with the goal of attracting to the Boyd School of Law Nevadans who might otherwise attend out-of-state universities.

Mohegan Sun Sponsors Women's 9-Ball Tournament - UNCASVILLE, CT -- The third annual International Tournament of Champions, one of the most widely viewed women's billiards programs on ESPN, will make its Mohegan Sun's Wolf Den debut on November 9th. ABC's Radio Music Award

The ceremony will be broadcast live from the Theatre for the Performing Arts on Saturday, November 4, on the ABC Television Network.

Presenters at the two-hour awards show include Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Martin and Pink. Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray will serve as one of the three co-hosts for the television event.
