BILOXI, MS - A 54-year-old man won nearly $14 million just after 11 p.m. May 22nd at the Isle of Capri Casino in Biloxi and, in the process, set a new record for slot machine jackpots. Chris Guy Loewen was playing an IGT Jeopardy® quarter slot machine when he hit the $13,789,894.29 MegaJackpot(TM). This is the largest slot jackpot ever won outside of Nevada where two months ago IGT's Megabucks(TM) paid $37.9 million.

Recently, Mississippi jackpots have not only been fat, they've also been furious. This is the fourth MegaJackpot(TM) won in the Biloxi area in just the prior eight days and the sixth jackpot in Biloxi on a MegaJackpots(TM) game in just the last two months. Five other previous winners were recently announced, bringing the total MegaJackpots(TM) winnings in the last two months to about $29 million in the Biloxi area.

Loewen and his wife were in town for a few hours from their Mobile, AL home and decided to visit the Isle of Capri. "I thought the jackpot was ready to hit, and I felt I was going to win it," said Loewen after his win. However, he was in a state of disbelief when being informed of his large winnings. "I thought I had won $13,000," Loewen said. Upon learning his MegaJackpot(TM) prize was instead $13 million, "I fell out of my chair," he said in disbelief. Loewen, who is currently between jobs, said he'll use his winnings to help his family and improve his lifestyle, but he does not want the money to change the type of person he is.
