Airline Adds Three
Vegas Flights
- PHOENIX, AZ- America West Airlines, saying its business-oriented
fare structure is creating demand, today said it's adding
one flight per day between Las Vegas and St. Louis; Las
Vegas and Billings, Mont.; and Las Vegas and Des Moines,
Iowa, on Oct. 26, Nov. 26 and Dec. 19, respectively. America
West said its Las Vegas hub is benefitting from a business-oriented
strategy eliminating the Saturday night stay requirement
and with fares it said are up to 70 percent lower than
most other major airlines.
Caesars Palace Has
Eye on Mall of America
- BLOOMINGTON, MN – The owners of Caesars Palace
- one of the largest casino operations in the world --
are exploring the against-the-odds possibility of building
a Las Vegas-style casino resort at the Mall of America.
"We
have had some discussions with a number of people in Minnesota
about the development of a Caesars-branded casino at the
Mall of America," said Robert Stewart, a spokesman
for Park Place Entertainment, the owners of major casinos
in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
The
proposal is a long shot. It would require approval from
a governor and Legislature that have resisted expansion
of gambling in Minnesota. And if state policy-makers opted
for expansion, the casino would have to compete with other
interests for the right to run new gambling operations.
State law now limits casinos to Minnesota's 11 Indian
reservations.
New Casino Planned
For Scotland
- SCOTLAND – A new casino could open in Aberdeen.
K enmore
Aberdeen has lodged plans to change the lay-out of its
proposed £9 million Shiprow development to accommodate
a casino.
The
firm won planning permission earlier this year for a seven-storey
office block, hotel, leisure complex and shops on the
site between Shiprow, Virginia Street and Shore Brae.
Now
Kenmore wants to add a casino and axe some space earmarked
for retail use to make way for a public house.
Kenmore
won the go-ahead for its multi-million pound scheme in
January, but only after councillors insisted on taking
a harbour tour to make sure the scheme would not spoil
Aberdeen's skyline. But the casino will need to be approved
by the Gaming Board and Aberdeen Licensing Board members
before it opens for business.
