Golden
Nugget 'Grand Celebration Weekend'
LAS
VEGAS -- Legendary entertainer Tony Bennett and Grammy Award
winner Jewel will perform together during intimate, invitation-only
concerts in the Golden
Nugget Theatre Ballroom. These "once-in-a-lifetime"
performances will be held March 5, 6, and 7, 2004, and will
highlight the property's Grand Celebration Weekend, hosted by
the new owners of the Golden
Nugget, Tim Poster and Tom Breitling.
The concert
on March 7 will be a charity event preceded by a cocktail reception
and followed by an exclusive "after-party" hosted
by Poster, Breitling and tennis star Andre Agassi, who is a
minority owner in Golden Nugget. Proceeds from the evening will
benefit Advantage Kids!, the funding arm for the Andre Agassi
College Preparatory Academy charter school, which is part of
the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation (AACF).
"As
new owners of this legendary property, we are extremely excited
to host these events," said Poster. "While this weekend
is certainly a tremendous opportunity to show our appreciation
to the Nugget's loyal, longtime customers, and to attract new
visitors to the property, we are particularly honored to be
able to lend our support to Andre and the fine work his organization
does in the Las Vegas community."
Using this
celebration to formally commemorate their ownership of the Golden
Nugget, Poster and Breitling will personally welcome guests
to their property, and re-dedicate the renowned Golden Nugget
-- which opened in downtown Las Vegas as a gambling hall in
1946 -- in "old Vegas style."
Adding to
the festivities, the Fremont Street Experience is planning a
special tribute to the Golden
Nugget during NASCAR Weekend/Race Jam, including classic
car displays, light and sound show featuring a historical montage,
and concert by tribute entertainers. Throughout the weekend,
guests will enjoy performances by The Fabulous Thunderbirds,
EXILE and The Rat Pack Revue.
The Agassi benefit on March 7 will begin at 8 p.m. The red-carpet
affair is expected to draw numerous celebrity guests. Tickets
for the cocktail party and concert are $500 per person. Tickets
for those wishing to attend the cocktail party, concert, and
exclusive "after-party" are $1,250 each. Ticket sales
are limited to 400 people and are available by invitation only.
