Don Rickles Signs Two-Year Deal
With Stardust Resort & Casino

LAS VEGAS, NV -- Don Rickles, a mainstay on Las Vegas Strip marquees for nearly four decades, will continue his amazing success story in the resort city as a headliner at the Stardust Resort and Casino. The comedian has signed with the Stardust to appear in a series of exclusive Las Vegas appearances that will extend through 2002.His first engagement in the resort's Wayne Newton Theater will take place February 2-3.

Rickles originally attracted attention by making hilarious observations about people in his audiences, including some of the most famous names in show business. As his fame grew, it became a badge of honor to be personally roasted over the coals by Rickles. His most prominent targets (including Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin) ultimately became significant supporters and benefactors.

Rickles' incredible popularity stems from a rapier-quick wit tempered by a sensitivity that enables him to know the exact limits of his comedic approach. His entire comedy technique is based on his audiences' willingness to laugh at themselves.

Rickles emergence as a Las Vegas icon was the spur that led to offers from leading nightclubs throughout America, as well as from television and films. A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, he was well prepared to take advantage of opportunities to play serious and comedy acting roles. His career has been regularly highlighted by acclaimed performances on top-rated network TV shows and major motion pictures. His more recent film credits include "Casino'' and "Toy Story 2.''

Appearing with Rickles in his initial Stardust engagement February 2-3 will be singer-impressionist Bob Anderson. Ticket information can be obtained by calling the Stardust box office at 702-732-6325.

LAS VEGAS, NV -- Sam's Town Hotel, Gambling Hall and Bowling Center, one of the many properties owned by Boyd Gaming Corporation, hosted a bowling event - "The International Eliminator'' January 18-20.

Sam's Town owned and operated this event and was the guarantor of all prize monies. Friday, Jan. 19, five finalists competed for a shot at winning the first place grand prize of $100,000. This tournament is considered by amateur bowlers internationally as one of the most prestigious and highly paid of all bowling tournaments.

The first place winner, Adam Colton from Coral Springs, Florida took home the winning grand prize of $100,000. Dave Guindon from Buffalo, NY, placed second with the prize of $50,000 and third place winner, Ken Abner from Cincinnati, OH, won $25,000. Fourth place winner, Eduardo Legorretta from Guadalahara, Mexico took home $12,500 while fifth place winner, Kritchawat Jampakhao of Bangkok, Thailand received $7,500. During the final two rounds, Colton was ahead in the overall scoring entering the finals. If he had lost both rounds, Colton would've lost the tournament. Guindon won the first match with a score of 233 to 227. The second match literally came down to the last throw of the ball-in the tenth frame, Colton led with three strikes while Guindon needed two strikes to win. Colton hit the first round, then left one pin standing on his second ball. The final score was 213 to 212.

Colton plays in several tournaments throughout the year. He has been bowling extensively for 22 years. Last year was his third Eliminator at Sam's Town and he finished in the top sixteen. This was his first victory win. Guindon won the very first Sam's Town Eliminator tournament.

Colton turns forty in July and said the $100,000 was a nice early birthday present.
