ATLANTIC
CITY, NJ -- Slot players from around the country will
descend on Atlantic City, Monday, Oct. 4 in a quest for
$1 million* and the title of Champion of Slots. The culmination
event for the 10th annual Harrah's Millionaire Maker is
expected to draw more than 240 of the nation's best slots
players from 13 states.
Harrah's
Entertainment, Inc., which operates 28 casinos nationwide,
has been hosting Millionaire Maker qualifying rounds at
its casinos since January, with more than 6,000 participants
vying for the culmination event spots. The slot tournament
is the largest in the world and the only one in the gaming
industry to span four nationally known casino brands -
Harrah's,
Rio, Harveys
and Showboat.
Harrah's
is bringing 243 top qualifiers along with a guest to Atlantic
City for the culmination event, where one player will
win the $1 million grand prize.
"We're
proud that, for a decade now, we've been hosting the casino
industry's ultimate slot event," said Ginny Shanks,
Harrah's senior vice president of acquisition marketing.
"Millionaire Maker always attracts the country's
best slot players, and it will be a pleasure to crown
our tenth champion next week in Atlantic City, a market
in which we have invested heavily for many years."
Millionaire
Maker participants will compete in three 10-minute rounds
of slot action, accumulating points as they go. Each machine
is set on continuous play, so participants can generate
the highest scores possible. The player with the highest
point total at the end of the three rounds is named champion
and wins the $1 million grand prize.
The
culmination event of Harrah's Millionaire Maker is held
at a different Harrah's-owned casino property each year.
Harrah's
Atlantic City has hosted the event once before.
