Casino & Hotel and Gold
Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, Mississippi are hosting the
Second Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open March 26 through April
13, 2001.
Master poker
players from around the world competed for a purse valued at more
than $3.3 million. Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth Jr.,
Russ Hamilton and Scotty Nguyen were among the 3,000+ entrants to
last year's tournament.
Ron Williams,
55, an antique car restorer who has played tournament poker for
just three years, captured the No Limit Hold'Em Championship last
year. He won $238,620.
"It's exciting,''
Williams said. "Anyone with heart and perseverance can win
a tournament with the idea of never giving up. He recalled the famous
poker dictum attributed to former World Champion Jack ''Treetop"
Strauss, ''If you have a chip and a chair you can win."
Play begins
at Gold

be open to the public to persons ages 21 or older, and buy-ins vary

possesses all of the tournament chips. Tables will be combined as
players are eliminated and the last remaining player at the final
table will be declared the winner of the event. All tournaments
will begin at noon. With approximately 50 tables available for tournament
play, these tables will also be available for live action play after
each scheduled event.
Day 15 of the
