Neil Goldberg's "Cirque" To Play
at Gold Strike Casino Resort
TUNICA, MS -
The inventive and imaginative theatrical performance that has sold
out theatres all over the world, Neil Goldberg's Cirque, will be
headlining at Gold
Strike Casino Resort's Millennium Theatre for a month-long engagement
each Thursday through Sunday, April 5th through April 29th.
Produced by
the creator of Cirque Ingenieux, Neil Goldberg's Cirque is an original
and imaginative burst of color, costumes and amazing performance
artistry. The 90-minute, two-act performance contains a variety
of 15 original scenes with comical, magical and fantastical moments
from beginning to end. An international ensemble of 24 of some of
the world's most talented and unique artists will exhibit performances
of endurance and flexibility.
Some other
amazing moments in Neil Goldberg's Cirque are:
- A Chinese man who stacks seven chairs, straight, tilted and upside
down on top of a dresser, 24 feet into the air and balances on top
of them without fear.
- A Russian artist builds a chandelier of crystals and candles,
balances it on his forehead and then climbs a ladder into the air
amazingly while balancing the entire chandelier...then it illuminates.
- Two Mongolian contortionists who are so loose-limbed literally
tie themselves in knots and are accompanied by floating masks and
faces, adding mystery and intrigue to a finely choreographed production.
- A Ukrainian who flies through the air on a skin of chiffon accompanied
by powerful bass drummers in a dramatic presentation.
- A trio of muscular men from Russia who balance on each other's
heads, hands and sculpted bodies defying gravity. .
Goldberg has
developed productions for two Super Bowls, two Miss Universe pageants,
the Walt Disney World Company and over 2,000 corporate, private
and special events throughout the world. In 1993, Goldberg created
Cirque Inc., and has gained international recognition for his original
performances throughout the world.
Tickets to Neil
Goldberg's Cirque are available for $25 at any Ticketmaster Outlet
or at the Gold
Strike Millennium Theatre Box Office at 1-888-24K-PLAY. The
all ages performance runs April 5th through April 29th. Show times

Macho
Uno Out of
Kentucky Derby
LEXINGTON,
KY - /AP/ - Macho Uno, last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner
and the 2-year-old champion colt, has an injured ankle and won't
run in the Kentucky Derby.
Trainer
Joe Orseno, speaking from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach,
FL said the persistent injury to Macho Uno's left rear ankle -
"a tiny, little flake on his ankle,'' he called it -- was enough
to keep him out of the Derby on May 5.
The
colt was scheduled to be flown to the Rood and Riddle Equine Clinic
in Lexington, KY, on February 14. Equine surgeon Dr. Larry Bramlage
will determine if surgery is needed.
Owned
by Frank Stronach, Macho Uno won three of four starts and was
considered an early favorite for the Derby at Churchill Downs.
With
Macho Uno out of the picture, it means the streak of 2-year-old
champs who failed to win the Derby continues. The last 2-year-old
champion to win the Derby was Spectacular Bid in 1979. No Breeders'
Cup Juvenile winner has captured the Derby, either. The Breeders'
Cup races began in 1984.
Macho
Uno was originally scheduled to run in Saturday's Fountain of
Youth at Gulfstream but was ruled out of the race earlier in the
month.
The
son of Holy Bull won his debut at Saratoga, finished third in
the Hopeful Stakes, then won the Grey Breeders' Cup Stakes at
Woodbine before his win in the BC Juvenile last November at Churchill
Downs.
