JAMUL, California - As the Jamul Indian Village moves forward on the road to self-reliance, Tribal Chairman Leon Acebedo and members of the Tribal Executive Council will host a groundbreaking event on December 10 for the planned casino, hotel & resort on its six-acre reservation. There will be the traditional "turning of the soil to start this celebration. "We are very excited to see so much community support since our announcement to move forward with our casino project. Literally we are receiving letters of support and job applications every day. We want to celebrate with the entire community and thank everyone for all of their support through the years at our Groundbreaking gala. We expect everyone to come on out and enjoy some or our great Kumeyaay hospitality."

The gaming facility will be built in full compliance with the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) and the Tribe's state compact. The construction phase for the casino and resort will create hundreds of construction jobs alone and when open will generate an estimated 1900 jobs producing tens of millions of dollars in overall economic activity for the local area.

"We are excited about this historic event, this has been a long time coming and something we have been working very hard towards for many years now," said Vice Chairperson Carlene Chamberlain. "The Groundbreaking will feature more than $200,000 in prize giveaways and great local food."

"This is the beginning of a new era for our tribe," said Executive Council Member Eleanor Miller. "This is a new era of prosperity for not only our tribe but all of East County as well."

"After years of waiting, the time is finally at hand," said Executive Council Member Robert Mesa. "The tribe is firmly committed to working with the state and the county to minimizing impacts, including constructing a new
fire station to serve the entire local community."

"We invite you to come out to our December 10 Groundbreaking and help us celebrate this historic occasion," said Executive Council Member Erica Pinto.

"We hope to see you there!"

"This is only the beginning of great things to come to Jamul. We are very excited with this opportunity to finally be able to provide for our tribal members with the tremendous venture. We look forward to opening our doors and taking reservations for New Year's Eve 2007," concluded Tribal Chairman Leon Acebedo.

GB Group launches a new portal to prevent fraud and money laundering

As reported by Yogonet.com

LONDON, United Kingdom - GB Group’s, European provider of electronic age and identity verification solutions for the gaming industry, has launched a new portal providing the latest news and advice on combating identity fraud and money laundering. It also carries useful case studies and industry statistics.

The portal www.uru.co.uk offers specific guidance to gaming organizations on dealing with customers efficiently while meeting legal requirements. In addition, it provides information on GB Group’s award-winning web-based age and identity verification service, URU.

The service is designed to prevent identity fraud and money laundering and is already in use by leading gaming industry players including Betfair and Partygaming. Developed by GB Group with BT, the service removes the need for paper-based identity checks by matching information against a comprehensive list of personal data in a matter of seconds.

The service is powered by GB Group’s Authenticator search engine and decision making software, which accesses a comprehensive range of identity data. Hosted through BT’s secure webservices platform, URU helps organizations to protect themselves from the growing problem of identity theft and money laundering.

Rob Laurence, managing director of GB Group’s Data Authentication division, said: “UK Government and the Financial Services Authority have made it abundantly clear that organizations must adequately identify who they’re dealing with to combat identity fraud, comply with anti-money laundering legislation and protect vulnerable people.

He added: “Failure to do this can result in fines, which are often made public, and other legal action that can seriously damage reputations.

The new portal will enable businesses to stay up-to-date with the Proceeds of Crime Act and the FSA’s ‘Know Your Customer’ regulations. It will also provide information on how organizations are doing this using the latest technology including our URU service, accepted as an innovative and powerful on-line identity verification solution.

Empire Resorts Comments on Favorable Court Ruling
Press Release

MONTICELLO, New York - Empire Resorts, Inc. has confirmed that the U.S. Supreme Court had rejected appeals by individuals protesting a law, signed by Governor George Pataki in October 2001, authorizing the creation of casinos in the Catskills. In turning away these appeals, the Supreme Court upheld the right of the governor to negotiate gaming compacts with Native American tribes under a 1988 federal law.

David P. Hanlon, CEO and president of Empire Resorts, stated, "This ruling, which was expected, removes an outstanding legal overhang related to the legitimacy of Native American casinos in New York. This was the last stop in a long effort to derail Native American gaming in New York through court challenges. We will continue to move forward, working with our Native American partners, to bring a casino resort to the Catskills as soon as possible."
