GB Group launches a new portal to prevent fraud and money laundering

LONDON, United Kingdom - GB Group’s, European provider of electronic age and identity verification solutions for the gaming industry, has launched a new portal providing the latest news and advice on combating identity fraud and money laundering. It also carries useful case studies and industry statistics.

The portal www.uru.co.uk offers specific guidance to gaming organizations on dealing with customers efficiently while meeting legal requirements. In addition, it provides information on GB Group’s award-winning web-based age and identity verification service, URU.

The service is designed to prevent identity fraud and money laundering and is already in use by leading gaming industry players including Betfair and Partygaming. Developed by GB Group with BT, the service removes the need for paper-based identity checks by matching information against a comprehensive list of personal data in a matter of seconds.

The service is powered by GB Group’s Authenticator search engine and decision making software, which accesses a comprehensive range of identity data. Hosted through BT’s secure webservices platform, URU helps organizations to protect themselves from the growing problem of identity theft and money laundering.

MONTICELLO, New York - Empire Resorts, Inc. has confirmed that the U.S. Supreme Court had rejected appeals by individuals protesting a law, signed by Governor George Pataki in October 2001, authorizing the creation of casinos in the Catskills. In turning away these appeals, the Supreme Court upheld the right of the governor to negotiate gaming compacts with Native American tribes under a 1988 federal law.

This was the last stop in a long effort to derail Native American gaming in New York through court challenges.
