World Series of Poker Acadmey debuts

Press Release

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Harrah's Operating Company, Inc., a subsidiary of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET), has launched the World Series of Poker Academy, a new instructional camp that offers participants an opportunity to learn first-hand from some of the poker world's greatest players.

WSOP Academy instructors include 10-time World Series of Poker® bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth Jr., 2005 World Champion Joe Hachem, 2004 World Champion Greg Raymer, former FBI agent Joe Navarro - an expert on nonverbal behavior - and WSOP bracelet winners Scott Fischman and Mark Seif, among others.

"School is in session at the World Series of Poker Academy," said Jeffrey Pollack, Commissioner of the WSOP. "Our new academy is a tremendous value. Participants will learn from the best minds in poker and have a chance to win a seat in the 2007 WSOP Main Event.

"If you want to learn the basics or master the game, the WSOP Academy is for you," Pollack said.

The first season of the WSOP Academy will be capped by a three-day Main Event Primer at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The Main Event Primer begins July 3 and ends July 5 - the eve of the $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'Em World Championship at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino®, home of the 2007 World Series of Poker.

Hellmuth, Hachem, Raymer, Navarro, Fischman, Seif, Alex Outhred and other top professional players are scheduled to help Main Event Primer participants prepare for the game's most prestigious competition, which last year awarded more than $82.5 million to the WSOP Main Event alone.

All sessions of the WSOP Academy provide participants with in-depth seminars, interactive workshops and customized handbooks. Each session will also include a tournament that awards a seat in the $10,000 buy-in 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event.

The first WSOP Academy was held at Grand Casino Tunica in January. The second is scheduled for Caesars Indiana April 7-8. The third - a Ladies Only WSOP Academy taught by poker pro Annie Duke, who won $2 million in the 2005 Tournament of Champions - is set for Caesars Palace on June 8-9, the eve of the World Championship Ladies No-Limit Hold'Em tournament at the 2007 World Series of Poker.

Massachusetts tribe pushes for casino
As reported by The Cape Cod Times

BOSTON, Mass. – "If they win tribal recognition from the U.S. Department of the Interior today, the Mashpee Wampanoag will push aggressively for an off-Cape casino in Southeastern Massachusetts.

"'Everything is on the table,' the tribe's spokesman, Scott Ferson, said yesterday.

"The tribe will consider every development opportunity allowed under federal gaming rules and a potential gaming compact with the state, Ferson said. That includes opportunities in housing, health care, alternative energy and a casino with the amenities of Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

"…But even after today's expected recognition and its required 90-day waiting period, there would be hurdles. The tribe would have to acquire off-Cape land to be put in federal trust; wait for approval from the state Legislature for Class III gaming such as slot machines or casinos; and negotiate a gaming compact with the governor.

"…The tribe, which currently owns at least 160 acres in Mashpee, is looking for a location in an off-Cape community that welcomes a casino, Ferson said. It would take at least a year to purchase or acquire land, which would then be held in trust by the federal government, he said…"

AC casino height rules may change
As reported by The Press of Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – "…City Council is expected to vote next week on a measure that would raise the building height limit for a portion of land bordered by the Boardwalk and New Jersey, Oriental and Metro-politan avenues from 485 to 800 feet.

"The ordinance would also allow any skyscrapers to top out with an extra 100 feet for rooftop decorations or mechanical rooms.

"The 20-acre tract is owned by Morgan Stanley subsidiary Ventura AC LLC, formerly called MS Atlantic City LLC. It is providing some financial support to Revel Entertainment, which announced plans last year to build a casino on the long-barren tract.

"…If built to the maximum allowed, Revel's casino would be the tallest in the state, and one of the top 50 tallest buildings in the nation.

"But Revel chairman and CEO Kevin DeSanctis said it was highly unlikely the final tower would reach that high…"

George Strait
with Ronnie Milsap
and Taylor Swift

Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, Conn.: With an unprecedented fifty-two #1 songs, George Strait is a bona-fide music legend. The release of his latest album, It Just Comes Natural, marks his 34th album and it is well on it’s way to becoming another platinum seller. The albums first release “Give It Away” is one of Strait’s fastest moving singles in more than five years. He is most loved by fans for his traditional sounding country music that appeals equally to the cowboy and the country lover. Some of his other hit songs include, “If I Know Me,” “I Cross My Heart,” “Check Yes Or No,” and “One Night at a Time.”

As another hit-maker, Ronnie Milsap also has several #1 songs to his credit. He began his music career in the late 60’s and had his first hit in 1970 with “Loving You Is a Natural Thing.” He followed this hit up with a string of others including, “Pure Love,” “Please Don’t Tell Me How The Story Ends,” and “(There’s) No Gettin’ Over Me.”

Inspired by her grandmother, a professional opera singer, 16-year old Taylor Swift began singing at a very young age. She first started performing at the tender age of ten, and was writing her own songs by the age of twelve. She recently released her self-titled, debut album, which includes her breakout hit “Tim McGraw.”
