San
Diego County opens new casino As
reported by The San Diego Union Tribune
SANTA
YSABEL, Calif. -
"San Diego County's 10th Indian casino opened last
night with a private party for more than 1,000 people.
"…The
349-slot Santa Ysabel Resort and Casino, on state Route
79 about 4½ miles north of Route 78, opened to
the general public at 9 p.m., after the party.
"It
will be some time before the casino sells alcohol.
"…County
officials say they are waiting for word that the tribe
has implemented an alcohol training program for its workers;
will serve food; has a designated-driver program; and
sponsors a shuttle to public transit.

Union continues fight against
California compact As
reported by The Californian
CALIFORNIA
- "A
labor union continued its demand for new provisions in
a Temecula-area tribe's gambling agreement with the state
Wednesday, even as more of its legislative allies hinted
they would support the version now on the table.
"A
bill by state Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Van Nuys, would amend
a 1999 agreement between California and the Pechanga Band
of Luiseno Indians, allowing the tribe to add as many
as 5,500 slot machines to the 2,000 already at its casino
just south of Temecula. Padilla is one of several Democratic
legislators carrying bills that would finalize agreements
that five Southern California tribes negotiated with Gov.
Arnold Schwarzenegger in August.
"In
a second straight day of hearings before the Senate Governmental
Organization Committee, Unite-HERE Political Director
Jack Gribbon protested the methods the agreements -- known
as compacts -- specify for unionization elections. The
union favors a system of signed cards, which it considers
fairer than the secret-ballot elections outlined by the
compacts…"
Aerosmith
Mandalay
Bay, Las Vegas, Nev.:
Legends. Icons. Idols. These are the words used to describe
those rare bands that have been adored for a lifetime and immortalized
as distinct creators of rock and roll. But what these reverent
words are missing is the notion of now. How do you reconcile
a generation-spanning word like icon with the quick beat of
the present? Aerosmith does it. The band members are legends,
icons and idols, dynamic in the present; as cool and innovative
now as they were thirty years ago. They are a phenomenon, a
force of nature, trail-blazing, unstoppable, showing no signs
of slowing down.Unique even among the select handful of rock
bands who are still active after their Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame induction, Aerosmith has sold over 100 million albums.
Aerosmith
will perform at this concert as part of its 2007 World Tour,
with all proceeds to benefit the Lili Claire Foundation.
Dates: April 28, 2007 Time: 8 p.m. Ticket Prices: $137 and $187
