Horseshoe Casino in Indiana Opens

HAMMOND, IN - Formerly known as the Empress Casino, the new Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana opened on May 4 with a grand opening gala event.

The new facility is an upscale, multi-level gaming property located at Casino Center Drive on Lake Michigan.

The former Empress property has been transformed with over $11 million in renovations. The Horseshoe will feature a new casino VIP area with a high-limit slot area and top-of-the-line table games. The VIP room will be monitored by tuxedo-clad security personnel and will offer high rollers a private hors d'oeuvre buffet.

"As the closest gaming facility to downtown Chicago, Horseshoe Casino is delighted to offer the best in service and quality in a comfortable atmosphere," says Roger Wagner, president of Horseshoe Gaming Holding Corporation, founded by Jack Binion in 1993. Foxwoods Introduces Multi-Denominational Slots

MASHANTUCKET, CT - Foxwoods is introducing 400 new IGT EZ Play slot machines in one of its smoke-free casinos. The new multi-denomination, multi-line slot machines with advanced technology and features replace existing machines in Slots Down Under, which is located just beneath the Rainmaker Casino. Foxwoods' other smoke-free casino has an additional 802 reel and video slots.

The new video slots in Slots Down Under will allow players to insert coin or currency up to several one-hundred-dollar bills, then pick the denomination they want to play from nickels to one-dollar. When players decide to cash out, they can receive it in coin or in the form of a ticket with the amount encoded on it. The ticket can be cashed in at a cage or taken to another machine and inserted to begin play.

The tickets are produced by Bally's SDS Ticketing System. Tickets reduce the load of coins players have to carry from machine to machine, and reduce the requirement for frequent hopper fills by casino personnel. It's more convenient for everyone.

In addition to the multi-denominational slots, Foxwoods has introduced two clusters of Slotto, a lottery bonus slot game that is exclusive to Foxwoods in Connecticut. Just like the lottery, numbered balls on top of the slot machine bubble around and one drops to enhance the jackpot registered on the wheels.

Also, Foxwoods has added Mystery Cove, 52 games linked together in the Festival Casino. These slots will regularly pay out random bonus jackpots to players ranging from $200 - $700. It's a new theme and concept available only at Foxwoods.
