Palms Casino Resort Construction On Schedule

LAS VEGAS, NV - Perini Building Co., a division of Perini Corp., celebrated the topping-off of the Palms Casino Resort June 7 by placing the last beam and the resort's signature hurricane palm tree on the 42-story hotel tower.

As of this construction milestone, the $255 million Palms Casino Resort is on budget and on schedule.

"We plan to deliver the project, as promised, in December of this year,'' said Pat Hubbs, project manager for Perini Building Co.

The resort covers 22.5 acres of the 32-acre site it sits on. When complete, approximately 60,000 cubic yards of concrete will have been poured. That is equivalent to 18 miles of sidewalk five feet wide or enough concrete to pave both sides of the Strip three times.

The hotel tower has 455 oversized guest rooms and suites. Other structures under construction are a multi-use entertainment venue, 14 theaters and an IMAX theater, seven restaurants, a 10,000 sq. ft. banquet and conference facility, an 18,000 sq. ft. spa and salon, which

overlooks a resort-style swimming pool. The Palms features a 95,000 sq. ft. casino with 2,200 slot machines.

The casino is an architectural statement unto itself. It is designed to be flowing with no corners or straight lines.

KGA Architecture is the executive architect for the Palms Casino Resort. The Los Angeles based, urban planning and architecture firm, The Jerde Partnership International, is the project's master planner and design architect for the exterior and interior of the main casino.

Mashantucket Pequot High Stakes Bingo Celebrates 15 Years At Foxwoods

MASHANTUCKET, CT - While many people think gaming on the Mashantucket Pequot Reservation began when Foxwoods Resort Casino opened in 1992, those in the know are aware that it all started with a high stakes bingo hall in July 1986.

It was on July 6, 1986, that Mashantucket Pequot Indian High Stakes Bingo opened for business and very quickly foretold of things to come. It was the first gaming enterprise opened by the tribe. Originally seating 1,200 players, Bingo at Foxwoods has evolved to become a major destination for those who love the game.

"Foxwoods started here,'' said Michael Holder, a Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Member who started his career with the Bingo Hall as a trainee and is now vice president of Bingo Operations. "When we first opened the Bingo Hall, there wasn't even a consideration of slots or gaming. If the Bingo Hall hadn't been successful, we would not have opened a casino,'' added Holder.

To celebrate 15 years of operating, Mashantucket Pequot High Stakes Bingo at Foxwoods will hold its 15th Anniversary Firecracker Bingo with over $750,000 in cash and prizes on Saturday, July 7. With an admission fee of $250, players can win a Super Jackpot of over $300,000 and cash prizes ranging from $7,500 to $25,000. Up to $100,000 in cash door prizes and a 2001 Mercedes Benz ML320 SUV will be raffled.

Foxwoods Resort Casino features 6,400 slot machines and 350 table games, live entertainment, and fine dining at Mashantucket, the ancestral home of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in Connecticut.
