required to maintain 90 percent of its 2734 employees.
Harrah's
officials said that they would comment on the cuts later
in the week.
Carmen Electra to Star
in Las Vegas
- LAS VEGAS, NV - Former "Baywatch'' star and Playboy
model Carmen Electra has signed a two-year deal to star
in her own show on the Las Vegas Strip.
Electra,
29, will perform 12 times a week in a show called Lumiere
at the Aladdin
Hotel Casino, her spokeswoman Eileen Koch said Thursday.
"Lumiere
is a show so big, we knew we needed someone who is both
a superstar and a multifaceted performer to make it work,''
show producer David Tumaroff said. "Getting Carmen Electra
is a coup for Las Vegas entertainment.''
Koch
would not say how much Electra would be paid to sing and
dance in the show that will include illusions, stunts
and special effects.
The
show is scheduled to begin early in 2002.
