Harrah's Introduces
''The Price Is Right'' Video Slots in Illinois and Indiana
- LAS VEGAS, NV - Harrah's Entertainment Inc. will be
the first casino company to offer Indiana and Illinois
customers the opportunity to play "The Price Is Right(TM)''
video slot machines manufactured by International Game
Technology.
Following
the highly successful introduction of the nine-line nickel
denomination video slots in several Harrah's casinos across
the country, the company has installed a total of 22 machines
at Harrah's East Chicago, 12 machines at Harrah's
Joliet and 10 machines at the Harrah's-operated Players
Island Casino in Metropolis, IL. The Players Island
casino will assume the Harrah's brand name in September.
To
highlight the introduction of "The Price Is Right(TM)''
video slots in Illinois and Indiana, Harrah's is sponsoring
a public appearance by television personality and game-show
announcer Rod Roddy at 8:45 p.m. Central Daylight Time
Tuesday, July 31, at Harrah's East Chicago. Roddy will
conduct a promotional showcase showdown with two lucky
Harrah's East Chicago customers and will be available
afterward to sign autographs. Roddy will also appear at
Harrah's Joliet for an invitation-only player event on
August 1.
Founded
more than 60 years ago, Harrah's Entertainment Inc. operates
21 casinos in the United States under the Harrah's, Showboat,
Rio and Players brand names.
Two Museums to Open
At the Venetian
- LAS VEGAS, NV - A pair of museums created by Russia's
State Hermitage Museum and New York's Solomon R. Guggenheim
Foundation will open at the Venetian
Hotel Casino on September 16. The 63,700-square-foot
Guggenheim Las Vegas will feature "special large-scale
exhibitions.'' The 7,660-square-foot Hermitage Guggenheim
Museum will feature fine art from both the Hermitage and
the Guggenheim. "The Art of the Motorcycle,'' featuring
more than 130 motorcycles, will open at Guggenheim Las
Vegas. "Masterpieces and Master Collectors: Impressionist
and Early Modern Paintings,'' featuring 45 masterpieces
from both the Hermitage and the Guggenheim, will run from
Sept. 16 through March 17, 2002, at the Hermitage Guggenheim.
"Our intention is to use our permanent collections to
create a unique cultural experience,'' says Mikhail Piotrovski,
director of the Hermitage. "We expect to be reaching a
new audience, which, after all, is our mission.''
