Harrah's
Launches Second
'The Price Is Right' Slot Machine
LAS VEGAS -
Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. offers a second video slot machine
based on the longest-running game show in television history, CBS'
"The Price Is Right"(TM).
The new machine
incorporates "Plinko'' (TM) - the TV program's most popular game
- into its bonus rounds and continues Harrah's distribution agreement
with International Game Technology, which manufacturers "The Price
Is Right''(TM) slot machines.
Harrah's
exclusively launched the first slot machine based on the game show
in May. To celebrate the launch of the "Plinko''(TM) machine, Harrah's
will host the TV show's first taping outside Hollywood in its 30-year
history at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on Jan. 17.
The "Plinko''(TM)
slots - which feature bonus rounds with the Pachinko-like game that
awards various bonus credits - are being launched at six of Harrah's
Nevada properties and will be introduced in additional markets in
the coming months pending regulatory approvals. The 30-day exclusivity
agreement between Harrah's and IGT extends to each market in which
Harrah's operates a casino.
During the initial
rollout, a total of more than 60 of the nine-line nickel-denomination
video slots will be installed at Harrah's Las Vegas, the Rio and
Harrah's Laughlin in Southern Nevada, as well as Harrah's Reno,
Harrah's Lake Tahoe, and Harveys Lake Tahoe in Northern Nevada.
The new machines
feature many of the game show's most recognized elements - the showcase
showdown, the big bonus wheel, and an animated version of game show
announcer Rod Roddy. The slots also feature a brand new bonus round
based on "Plinko,''(TM) a game in which players drop an animated
disk into a maze of bumpers that bounce the disk repeatedly until
it drops into one of several compartments arranged at the bottom
of the maze. Each compartment contains a prize worth various bonus
credit values.
Harrah's Entertainment
operates 25 casinos in the United States, primarily under the Harrah's
brand name.
