Wireless Betting Expected
To Increase -
LONDON - Wireless betting through mobile phones is becoming
increasingly popular among bettors. IDC analyst Paolo
Pescatore believes that betting will be one of the more
principal services being prepared for third generation
mobile phones: "Just imagine it, you can place a
bet and then receive a reminder about the race and even
see a clip of the final moment, all over your mobile.
Mobile betting could prove a lucrative market for mobile
operators burdened by the costs of third-generation licenses.
"Operators need to find extra revenues and some people
go mad and bet regularly so it could provide the opportunity
for generating money," explains Pescatore. In the
UK, both Ladbrokes and online gambling site Bluesquare
have been offering mobile betting services, and now Orange
and online gambling site Ukbetting provide the WAP service.
