Canterbury
Park's
Latest Expansion Complete
SHAKOPEE, MN
- The Canterbury
Park "Paddock Pavilion", a 17,400 square-foot fully heated -
moveable structure will officially open Thursday November 16 as
part of the 11th annual Fall Festival "An Arts and Crafts Affair"
at Canterbury Park.
The 60' X 290',
fully heated structure can accommodate a litany of events, including
trade shows, large corporate outings, and small to mid-size conventions.
Specifically, the facility can hold up to 90 - 8' X 10' trade show
booths, 500 people at a sit-down gathering, or up to 800 in a cocktail
party setting.
"Canterbury
Park is now truly in the event business year round,'' according
to Special Events Manager Mary Pat Monson, "This new structure will
provide a unique setting for trade shows, private parties, and corporate
gatherings not associated with our racing and card club facilities.''
The Paddock
Pavilion will also serve as an extended entryway to the Canterbury
Park facility, providing a respite from the elements during
the racing off-season. "The winter months are busy with conventions,
consumer shows, and our world famous snowmobile races attended by
thousands of people. In the summertime the walk from the front gate
to the main entrance is a stroll in the park. In winter, it used
to get a little cold,'' said Monson, "not anymore.''
Shortly before
the live-racing season begins in May, the structure will be moved
into the Shire Square area to provide a private gathering site for
groups to enjoy a day of horse racing.
