WILLIAMSBURG, MI - The 62-year-old Traverse City resident James Mikowski threw his hands up in the air and shouted when he realized he had won $1.25 million at Turtle Creek Casino on July 1. Mikowski hit the progressive jackpot in the Fabulous Fifties 50-cent slot machine.

"I felt super, I seen it hit and I yelled 'I hit the big one.' I was just elated," said Mikowski, who has his own plumbing business, J M Plumbing and Heating. "I didn't sleep much last night."

Mikowski said he plans to use the money to pay off bills, make investments and take an anniversary vacation with his wife, Barb. They are approaching their 40th wedding anniversary.

He was the third big slots winner at the casino in less than four weeks. Raymond Fifarek of Rapid City won $349,921.57 on a Jeopardy slot machine June 14 and Mike Beno of Dearborn won $404,608.09 on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine June 17.
