Ameristar Casinos Seeks Candidates
For Key Positions

LAS VEGAS - Management at Ameristar Casinos St. Charles announced on July 9 that recruitment efforts for the approximately 800 positions available at the all-new $360 million facility are going well. Currently, approximately 100 positions are still available, primarily in areas that will support Ameristar's seven new restaurant and entertainment venues.

"Job openings do remain in some important areas such as cooks and beverage servers," reports Ameristar's Vice President of Human Resources Carolyn Dobbs. "We warmly welcome individuals who are both experienced and customer service-oriented to apply. We are evaluating all qualified candidates who would like to be a part of the Ameristar Casinos team."

When it opens its doors to the public at 10 p.m. Aug. 6, Ameristar's new property will be supported by nearly 1,800 team members, and the company will officially become the largest employer in St. Charles. "We have been making rapid progress toward our aggressive recruitment goals," says Dobbs. "It is interesting to note, for example, that Ameristar's Food & Beverage division has expanded so rapidly that the number of restaurant managers has increased from 15 to 58 in just three weeks."

Potential candidates are encouraged to place applications throughout the next week. The Ameristar Career Center is located at 1366 South Fifth Street, in St. Charles (north of Highway 70). The hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday.

Ameristar employees receive a wide range of excellent benefits including: medical insurance, life insurance (provided without cost), tuition reimbursement, dental care, vision care, a 401(k) plan, voluntary short-term disability, paid time off (vacation) and dependent care reimbursement. All salaries are highly competitive within the St. Charles market. Additionally, Ameristar team members have access to a private team member dining room featuring its own chef and manager, and inexpensive meal prices with food that is cooked to order.

"Ameristar Casinos provides a work environment that is both exciting and rewarding, coupled with a leadership philosophy that emphasizes team member growth and development," says Tony Raymon, general manager of the St. Charles property. "We were voted 'Employer of the Year' in 2000 by the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and are proud of the fact that 55 percent of Ameristar's team members have been with the property for more than five years, which is a noteworthy accomplishment in the gaming/hospitality industry."

Ameristar Casino St. Charles, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ameristar Casinos, Inc., brings the finest gaming and entertainment to the banks of the Missouri River, serving the entire metropolitan St. Louis area from its convenient location just north of the Interstate Highway 70 bridge near historic downtown St. Charles, Missouri. Stanley Leisure Acquires Five Casinos - LONDON -
Stanley Leisure consolidated its position as Britain's leading casinos operator with the acquisition of Tower Casino Group. The Liverpool-based gambling group, chaired by Leonard Steinberg, is paying more than $67.3 million in cash and shares for Tower's five casinos - two are in Birmingham and the others in Reading, Blackpool and Derby. The deal gives Stanley a total of 40 casinos, including three in London. The group today said pre-tax profits were up 42% to $53.2 million in the year to 28 April. "Five years ago we were a betting business with some casinos on the side," says chief executive Bob Wiper. "Things have changed and these new casinos are very good quality."

MGM Players Card Reaches Out - ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - MGM Grand Detroit Casino on July 9 expanded their Players Club card, offering patrons cash rebates, free meals, prizes and other discounts if they play their card right - and visit other MGM Mirage-owned casinos. On July 9, the MGM Grand Detroit loyalty card program, which awards cash, freebies and discounts based upon how often gamblers play and how much they spend, was expanded to include the Treasure Island and Mirage casinos in Las Vegas. By next spring, Players Club cards will be good at all eight MGM Mirage-owned casinos in Las Vegas, Detroit and Biloxi, Mississippi. The upgraded Players Club cards give gamblers more places and opportunities to accumulate and spend earned points.

The new cards also help MGM Mirage cross-promote its venues and keep better track of regular gamblers' spending and playing habits. "The casinos say, `You give me information about your playing habits and in exchange for that we'll give you some rewards to make it worth your while,' " said Jeffrey Compton, a Las Vegas consultant who helps casinos develop loyalty card programs.
