Bellagio
Announces
Inspired Expansion Plans
LAS VEGAS - The
$1.6 billion Bellagio,
which has earned resounding applause as the most spectacular and romantic
resort in the world, will soon delight visitors around the globe with
a meaningful encore: the addition of a 925-room spa tower to create
an unprecedented oasis of privacy in the elegant and exciting world
of Bellagio.
The ambitious,
$375 million expansion will begin construction in mid-2003 and is
scheduled for completion in December 2004. In addition to the new
rooms, the project will include a significant expansion of the Bellagio
spa and salon, 60,000 square feet of new meeting space, 5,000 square
feet of retail and a casually elegant restaurant that will serve breakfast,
lunch and dinner.
"This project
adds to our exciting world of firsts," said Robert Baldwin, President
and CEO of Mirage Resorts. "With AAA Five Diamond status, Bellagio
has become the undisputed leader in the luxury market segment of Las
Vegas. The expansion will provide travelers with another unique experience.
Guests will enjoy an unrivaled level of privacy, service and business
connectivity right in the heart of the world's greatest playground."
With direct access
to the newly expanded spa and salon, the spa tower will be strategically
located on the south side of Bellagio's main pool and courtyard. In
every room and suite, high-speed fiber optic cabling will ensure guests
stay connected. Still, romantics can look forward to the comforting
embrace of such Bellagio
signature amenities as plush robes, oversized marble bathrooms with
deep soaking tubs, and, of course, a nightly turndown service.
The arrival statement
at the new spa tower entrance will be spectacular, inspiring guests
as they pass through classical gardens before making a grand entrance
through Bellagio's incredible conservatory.
From the conservatory,
guests will experience glorious views of Bellagio's Mediterranean-style
pool courtyards as they weave their way along a magnificent 50-foot
glass walled

corridor to their
spa tower rooms, which will be directly accessed via private elevators.
"Since opening
in 1998, Bellagio
has come to symbolize a wonderful place that can truly be called one
of the greatest resorts in the world," stated Randy Morton, Vice
President of Hotel Operations at Bellagio.
"As a result of this dynamic undertaking, guests will experience
an incredible yet exclusive journey. They will enjoy the rare privilege
of choosing to be a world away, or being part of everything Las Vegas
has to offer."
Upon completion,
the 925-room spa tower will complement the resort's 3,005 deluxe rooms
and suites. Inspired by the beautiful villages of Europe, Bellagio
overlooks a Mediterranean-blue eight-acre lake in which fountains
perform a magnificent aquatic ballet choreographed to music and lights.
Within Bellagio are award-winning dining experiences including Picasso,
a Mobil Five-Star/AAA Five-Diamond restaurant, a world-class art gallery,
exquisite gardens, Cirque du Soleil's stunning performance of "O,"
luxurious spa services and an elegant casino. The resort's shopping
promenade, Via Bellagio, features upscale shops including Giorgio
Armani, Gucci, Tiffany & Co., Prada, Fred Leighton, Hermes, Moschino,
and Yves Saint Laurent. Bellagio
is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MGM MIRAGE(TM).

Alturas
Casino Celebrates Anniversary
KLAMATH
FALLS, OR - The Alturas
Casino will celebrate its third anniversary September 13-15.
Everyone
is invited to come help them celebrate in a big way, Elaine
Schreiner, casino marketing manager. We started out as
the smallest casino with just 10 employees and 20 bingo machines.
In May 2000,
a ballot measure was passed that allowed Nevada style gaming
in California. The casino then changed its machines. The resulting
growth means the casino now has nearly 100 machines, about 40
employees and live bingo five days a week. A small snack/smoke
shop was also added.
The
casino is now one of the largest private employers in the Alturas
area, said Schreiner. New employees are added as
our business continues to grow. The casino strives to offer
the latest and most popular machines, including the only Black
Jack/Aces progressive gaming machine in California.
Our
goal is to continue to build a larger facility, and as we grow,
have the friendliest casino in the state of California,
she said.
Schreiner
said many employees had little or no casino work experience
when they joined the team.
They
are now an experienced trained team, working together,
said Schreiner. They pride themselves in our contributions
to the local community, through monthly donations to service
organizations and scholarships. The casino has considerable
drawing power, bringing tourists into the area, which helps
the community.
The weekend
anniversary party will include drawings. Prizes include DVDs,
televisions, a balloon ride, dinners at Alturas area restaurants
and two Reno trips.
Live bingo
will be held Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Free slot tournaments
will be offered throughout the weekend.
Live music
will be on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8 p.m. to midnight by The
Rogue Radio Band. Country Jam will play Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
A special
drawing on Sept. 7 will be for a free nights stay at the
Best Western Trailside Inn in Alturas for Saturday, Sept. 14.
To enter the special drawing, send a postcard with name, address,
and phone number by Sept. 6 to: Alturas
Casino, P.O. Box 910, Alturas, CA 96101. Entrants must live
within 50 miles of Alturas.
The casino
is located on the south end of town on the Alturas Rancheria.
From Alturas, turn left off Highway 395 onto County Road 56,
between the park and the museum, about eight tenths a
mile there is a sign at the entrance. People must be 18 years
of age to enter the casino.
