Park Place to Add Energy
Surcharge in Nevada
- LAS VEGAS, NV - Park Place Entertainment Corp. said
on June 12 it will add an energy surcharge to nightly
room rates at its Nevada casinos, making it the fourth
major gaming company to add such a charge to offset soaring
energy prices.
Las
Vegas-based Park Place joined Harrah's Entertainment Inc.,
Station Casinos Inc. and MGM Mirage in levying the charge
in Nevada where electricity prices have risen 30 percent
in recent months.
The
move makes Mandalay Resort Group the only major casino
operator that has yet to implement an energy surcharge
for its Nevada properties.
Park
Place said the $3 nightly surcharge would apply to its
Bally's Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas,
Las Vegas Hilton, Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Flamingo Reno,
Reno Hilton, Caesars Tahoe and Flamingo Laughlin properties.
The
charge will take effect for room rates confirmed on or
after June 15.
