Bellagio
Wins AAA Five Diamond Award
LAS VEGAS -
Bellagio
Hotel Casino earned the prestigious American Automobile Association
Five Diamond Award on November 13, and became the first Las Vegas
hotel and casino and the largest resort in AAA history to receive
this honor.
The AAA Five
Diamond Award, presented to fewer than one-half percent of the approximately
40,000 lodgings and restaurants in the AAA TourBook guides, has
been the most coveted symbol of excellence in the travel industry
since its inception in 1977.
"The
Five Diamond Award is only given to establishments that exemplify
an impeccable standard of excellence,'' said AAA spokesman Atle
Erlingsson. "What makes Bellagio
even more impressive is its ability to achieve such a standard with
over 3,000 rooms, far more than any other Five Diamond winner, which
until now have included properties with 10 to 896 guestrooms.''
Bellagio's
President and CEO of Mirage Resorts Robert Baldwin said, "We intended
Bellagio to be a resort of unsurpassed excellence and superior customer
service. To be honored with this industry service award by AAA recognizes
the unparalleled level of service provided by our outstanding employees.''
To be considered
for AAA approval and rating, lodgings and restaurants must undergo
a thorough, unannounced, inspection by one of AAA's 60 full-time
professional evaluators. Five Diamond establishments go through
the most extensive reviews.
Inspired by
the beautiful villages of Europe, Bellagio
overlooks a Mediterranean-blue eight-acre lake in which fountains
perform a magnificent aquatic ballet choreographed to music and
lights. Bellagio
offers 3,005 deluxe guest rooms and suites featuring sweeping vistas
of the resort's lake, surrounding mountains and Las Vegas skyline.

Within Bellagio
are award-winning dining experiences including the world-renowned
Picasso, a year-round botanical conservatory, a world-class art
gallery, Cirque du Soleil's stunning performance of "O,'' luxurious
spa services and an elegant casino. The resort's shopping promenade,

Mandalay
Introduces Multi-Casino Slot Card
LAS VEGAS
- Mandalay Resort Group introduced a multi-property slot club
card - "One Club" card at its casinos in Las Vegas and Laughlin
on November 10.
The new
card is replacing individual slot cards at Mandalay Bay, Luxor,
Excalibur, Monte Carlo and Circus Circus on the Strip, as
well as the Colorado Belle and Edgewater in Laughlin. By June
2002, all Mandalay properties across the country will be using
the card, said John Marz, senior vice president of marketing
for Mandalay.
With the
card, players at Mandalay casinos accumulate points toward
their comp account at any company-owned property. The points
can then be redeemed immediately at any Mandalay-owned property.
Outside
of Southern Nevada, Mandalay owns and operates casinos in
Reno, NV, Tunica, MS, Elgin, IL, and Detroit, MI.
Though
it's the first time such a card has been rolled out on the
Strip, Mandalay isn't the first company to offer such a program.
Harrah's
Entertainment Inc. has linked together its 25 casinos nationwide
for more than a year with its "Total Rewards" card. Harrah's
owns the Harrah's and Rio resorts on and near the Strip. Station
Casinos Inc. does the same thing at five of its locals'-oriented
properties with the "Boarding Pass."
