Ameristar Casino St. Charles To Offer
Diverse Dining and Entertainment Options

LAS VEGAS - Ameristar Casinos, Inc. is putting the finishing touches on its all-new $360 million St. Charles, MO, gaming and entertainment center in preparation for its August 6 grand opening. A competitively priced and distinctively designed food and beverage platform will serve as a foundation element of the attraction, bringing a diverse collection of culinary options to the region.

Working with award-winning architects and designers, Ameristar has created a "distinctive, premier property," explains Ameristar President and Chief Executive Officer Craig H. Neilsen. "Our new St. Charles facility represents the ultimate expression of our strategy of bringing our guests a gaming and entertainment experience that combines an expansive property with an atmosphere that is comfortably accommodating and reflective of the region."

Guests enter the facility through a dramatic streetscape, inspired by the 1880s St. Charles River Port District, which extends from the porte cochere through the pavilion. Among the dining and entertainment options that await them are the:

Bottleneck Blues Bar -- a soulful entertainment retreat with the best of Southern-style food selections, such as jumbo shrimp cocktail, lobster popcorn, new Orleans-style shrimp or chicken gumbo and oyster po'boys, and an array of beverages. Regionally known and national jazz, blues and country performers appear against in the backdrop of a 1930s-era delta-style theatre. It seats 300 and is open 4 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. six days a week (closed Mondays).

47 Port Street Grill -- a steakhouse and seafood specialty venue, with an exhibition-style presentation and signature selections such as Kansas City Strip corn meal-crushed chicken breast, filet and lobster in bearnaise sauce, double-cut lamp chops with caramelized shallot bordelaise, pecan honey glazed duck with sauteed mushrooms and onions, and prime rib. This Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired traditional atmosphere also offers a 46-seat lounge and private dining room. It seats 195 (175 in the main restaurant and 20 in the private dining room) and is open 5 to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. On Fridays and Saturday, the restaurant is open 5 to 11 p.m.

The King Cat Club -- an elegantly hip bar, patterned after the cool and sophisticated atmosphere of the 1950s. Situated adjacent to the steakhouse, it offers specialty martinis such as the King Apple, King Cat, the Chocolateini and the Belverdere. It seats 48 and is open daily from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m.

The Falcon Diner -- reflective of the Art Deco restaurants of the 1930s, it redefines the American diner, and provides the setting for a relaxed meal with selections such as specialty omelets, homemade corned beef hash, banana bread and fresh fruit platters, steak soup, and decadent deserts. It seats 200 and is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

The Amerisports Bar & Grill -- offering a diverse menu of sandwiches and grill specialties such as BBQ chicken

pizza, oven-baked Sicilian grinders and baby back ribs. This venue resembles a converted turn-of-the-century warehouse and features an interior glass and steel skylight, brick walls, stained concrete floors and a wood truss archway that separates the bar and restaurant areas. A 34-foot long video wall and two high-tech, giant video screens complement the state-of-the-art video system that includes tables customized with personalized screens and speakers, which make it the perfect environment for viewing the biggest athletic events of the day. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Pearl's Oyster Bar -- counter and table seating are available for guests selecting from an abundance of oysters on the half-shell, gumbo and flavorful pan roasts, available in this eclectic southern-style restaurant. This casual gathering place sits on a fenced-in, open-air patio overlooking the grand walkway with its magnificent domed skylight. It seats 108 and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Landmark Buffet -- with expansive accommodations for 450, guests will choose from more than 145 food selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner including Mongolian BBQ, brick-fired pizza and carved meats, presented from red-bricked serving stations designed to resemble an old-style marketplace. Guests may dine in differently themed rooms incorporating soothing fountains, plenty of greenery and warm touches such as fine art and fireplaces. It seats up to 440, with 30 to 40 guests accommodated in each of its five private rooms. Lunch is served Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with seating for 240 in the main dining room. Dinner is served daily from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday Champagne Brunch is 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with seating for 440.

When the facility opens August 6, guests also will be drawn to Ameristar's completely new 130,000-square-foot casino. Providing more than 3,300 state-of-the-art slot and video machines, 95 tables games including a 12-table live poker area and a VIP players lounge near the high-limit slots, the gaming operations will be the largest in St. Charles County and the newest in Missouri.

Ameristar Casinos, Inc. owns and operates six properties in Nevada, Missouri, Iowa and Mississippi, two of which carry the prestigious American Automobile Association's Four Diamond designation.

Britain to Build Its Biggest Casino

LONDON - /Associated Press/ - Betting and casino group Stanley Leisure said July 15 that it will build Britain's biggest casino in Birmingham, with a summer 2003 opening.

The group said it received permission to establish the casino, which will have 40 gaming tables, at the Star City leisure complex in Birmingham, which is 110 miles north of London.

The Stanley Star City Casino will employ more than 200 people, the company said.

"The Stanley Star City will be the U.K.'s largest casino and, along with its sister sites, the China Palace and the Midland Wheel, will put Birmingham firmly on the map as a destination gaming city," chief executive Bob Wiper said.
